Lake Como is Italy’s third largest lake, offering a wonderland of stunning views, nestled at the foot of the Alps. This place is the home of romantic scenery and sparkling waters so lovely it takes your breath away. Charming villages, ancient villas, lush gardens, nature walks and boat tours await you. Think picture postcard beauty, a warm welcome and amazing shopping and you’ll find this place hard to resist. No wonder so many people choose to get married at Lake Como. Here are five dreamy Lake Como wedding venues to inspire you.
Weddings at the magnificent Villa Balbienello
A fairytale historic villa right on the edge of the lake’s famous blue waters, the Villa Balbienello’s terraced gardens are only the start of your wedding story. It offers amazing views of Isola Comacina and the western shore of the lake, a venue where you can choose a civil, religious or symbolic wedding. You can hold your wedding reception indoors or outdoors and there’s room for up to 80 people. The villa’s access is exclusively by boat, making it even more romantic, and while the venue doesn’t provide accommodation there’s plenty to choose from nearby.
Widely known and the lake’s most spectacular wedding venue, the tree-filled peninsula Villa Balbienello sits on makes it feel like you’re on your own private island. Scenes from Star Wars and James Bond movies were filmed here, and it’s no stranger to celebrity weddings. A lush garden and panoramic views make it extra-special.
This set is from our popular Destination Wedding Collection. It includes a folded invitation, a save the date card and an RSVP card and features an original watercolour illustration of Villa Balbianello itself, set off to perfection with dusty blue envelopes. There’s space for the details of your ceremony and weekend events inside, and the save the date card showcases sweet little illustrations inspired by Italian destination weddings: the wine, the pizza, the Prosecco, luggage, florals and more.
Get married at the elegant Villa Regina Teodolinda
The deliciously pretty Villa Regina Teodolinda is nestled within unique scenery close to little village of Laglio, whose local climate is so gentle that it never gets too hot. Lovely cool lake breezes are the name of the game here and the villa, at one of the lake’s slimmest points, gives you gorgeous views of the opposite shore. This is a magical place where relaxation sits at the heart of everything, complete with a private dock to access Lake Como itself.
Choose from a civil, religious or symbolic wedding, either outside or indoors, and it has a capacity of 70 people. There’s accommodation for eighteen in the villa itself, with six elegant and refined suites, all light, breezy and comfortable.
We created this bespoke wedding project for our clients Macy and Ryan, who are getting married at Villa Regina. Our hand painted watercolour illustration of the front of the villa includes the bridge, something the clients were keen to include, and the wedding colour scheme is a blend of Hydrangeas and dusty blue. We paired the cards with Champagne coloured envelopes and created a monogram-initialed custom stamp for the couple’s wax envelope seals.
Fall in love with the exceptional Grand Hotel Tremezzo
Turn-of-the-century early 1900s grandeur awaits you at the magnificent Art Nouveau Grand Hotel Tremezzo, rich in charm and another elegant choice. The venue overlooks the breath-taking snow-covered Gringe mountains and the beautiful Lombardy town of Bellagio.
Expect dramatic vistas tailor-made for unforgettable wedding photos, and a particularly iconic setting for smart cocktails after your ceremony. A three course banquet is yours if you wish, alfresco if you like, and the winter garden is ideal for partying long and late. There are 90 stunning rooms for your guests, including three luxury suites, and there’s a pool to play in as well as top class hotel facilities.
Adore the stunning Mandarin Oriental
The Mandarin Oriental is chic every step of the way, a masterpiece in a sublime setting with deliciously pretty views. Make the most of its wow-factor Italian charm, set in a glorious natural amphitheatre. The floral archway is a particularly popular choice for happy couples, a lovely place to exchange your vows. This is a truly idyllic setting for romantic weddings and the bespoke dining experiences are always innovative and exciting. Superb facilities complete the picture of a Lake Como wedding venue that’s very hard to resist.
The Greenhouse is your venue for fine dining and you’re free to carry on celebrating late into the velvet Italian night. 75 sophisticated rooms are available for you and your guests – and the famously good spa is the largest in the region. Think deliciously delightful and you won’t be disappointed!
Wedding ceremonies at the lovely Villa Pizzo
The neo-classical Villa Pizzo sits in a dramatic position between the lake itself and the Alps, aptly described as ‘grand’. Built way back in 1435, this is classic Italian architecture at its best, magnificent inside and out. There’s lots of space for live music and entertainment, and the finest local cuisine is yours thanks to the venue’s brilliant banqueting partner, Milan’s iconic AFM banqueting. The food is high end, the catering is distinctive, and everything can be tailored to your personal taste.
If you’re getting married between May and October Villa Pizzo, with its gorgeous lakeside gardens and extraordinary views, makes the perfect fairytale wedding venue. The grand dock, built in the 1800s with exceptional lake-surrounded views, is a popular place for the ceremony itself, and for post-wedding dining and partying.
Our hand-painted, illustrated luxury wedding stationery is the perfect complement to an Italian wedding on Lake Como, a lovely little touch of ‘different’ that adds extra charm to your wedding. We wish you a magical time.
