5 Castle Wedding Invitations for Scottish Weddings

5 Castle Wedding Invitations for Scottish Weddings

Few settings feel as romantic or dramatic as a Scottish castle. From sweeping coastal estates to historic Highland fortresses, Scotland is home to some of the most breathtaking wedding venues in the world. For couples planning a castle wedding, every detail helps create that sense of occasion - and the wedding invitation sets the tone for the magnificent celebration to come.

In this post, I’m sharing five castle wedding invitations, created especially for Scottish weddings. Each invitation features a hand-painted illustration of a castle venue, with special attention paid to the architecture, grounds and style of the castle. You will find elegant folded invitations, contemporary shapes and luxurious finishing touches like faux silk ribbons, wax seals and envelope liners.

1. Achnagairn Castle Wedding Invitations

This invitation features the front of the castle, with the steps and some of the topiary and gardens, which have inspired the colour palette of greens, burgundy and neutrals. The iconic turrets make the venue easily recognisable too.

Inspired by the latest trend in shaped wedding stationery, this Achnagairn Castle Wedding Invitation features a round double sided invite, placed on top of a square details card - tied together with pretty faux silk ribbon for an extra level of detail.

An envelope liner is also printed with the couple’s initials and the venue illustration.

2. Culzean Castle Wedding Invitations

This Z-Fold wedding invitation features a watercolour illustration of Culzean Castle sat on top of dramatic clifftops, overlooking the sea. The design is perfect for Scottish coastal weddings and is truly inspired by the venue, with woodland animals that can be found in the country park and the fountain from one of the gardens on the reverse.

Also known as a concertina invitation, this style features 3 x A6 panels which are double sided, so plenty of space for your ceremony details, RSVP info, order of events and guest information.

A red deer, hare and autumnal flowers adorn the envelope liner that sit inside the coloured envelopes.

3. Glenapp Castle Wedding Invitations

A contemporary gatefold invitation showcasing the castle gates, driveway and front of the castle on the cover. Open it up to find an illustrated order of events, guest information and decorative flowers.

I love adding pretty little details to create a luxury finish, and the folded invitations are held closed with chunky ribbon and dark red wax seals with a foliage stamp. I have several stamp designs available including a rose, thistle and the foliage stamp shown on these Glenapp Castle Wedding Invitations.

The colour palette is just perfect for a modern Scottish wedding with deep red, burnt orange, cream and lilac hues inspired by the native heather and thistle.

Scottish woodland animals are printed on the back of the invitation, while the envelope liners feature bagpipes, a floral garland and the date of the couple’s wedding.

4. Edinburgh Castle Wedding Invitations

Here, I wanted to capture the height and grandeur of Edinburgh Castle but with fresher, lighter tones that are perfect for a blue wedding colour palette. The hand painted watercolour illustration shows Edinburgh Castle sitting proudly on Castle Rock, with a bright blue sky and some natural greenery.

This folded invitation is great for sharing your wedding information, all in one place, negating the need for multiple cards, it’s a convenient and practical way for guests to read any necessary information. The centre panel shares details of your ceremony, while the side panels are printed with your order of events and further guest information.

The powder blue envelopes, thistle wax seals and floral envelope liners add the finishing touches.

5. Cluny Castle Wedding Invitations

A classic castle wedding invitation, with a contemporary twist - this design features a traditional green and cream colour palette with cream roses and lots of decorative foliage. The main invitation is printed with a watercolour illustration of Cluny Castle and floral frame.

The shaped RSVP card adds a modern twist, with a card that is cut in the shape of a rose. See the reverse for RSVP information and a link to your wedding website, if you have one.

The olive envelopes are lined with custom envelope liners showcasing an illustration of the gate and turrets at the end of the driveway. Envelope printing is available as an upgrade, which adds a super professional finish and saves lots of time in hand writing envelopes.

A castle wedding celebrates historic architecture, sweeping landscapes and a magnificent ambience that can’t be created anywhere else. Your wedding invitations are the first opportunity to capture that feeling and share it with your guests and illustrated invitations are a wonderful way to do this. Whether you're planning a city celebration at Edinburgh Castle, a coastal wedding at Culzean Castle, or a relaxed Highland celebration at Achnagairn Castle, a hand-painted design can beautifully reflect the character of your venue.

With intriguing details such as folded cards, shaped invitations, faux silk ribbons and illustrated envelope liners, my collection of castle wedding invitations help set the tone for a truly memorable celebration.
