VENUE ILLUSTRATIONS, HAND PAINTED BY ME (A REAL HUMAN)
In a world where everything seems to be churned out by AI and all looks the same, I offer a refreshing point of difference. Each venue illustration wedding invitation starts life as a hand painted illustration. I use traditional watercolours, which I love for the ability to create washes and glaze, and create interesting variations in colour intensity. Having a real-life illustrator paint your venue, also gives you access to their expertise - in choosing the right angle, their suggestions and ability to merge parts of your venue together or add or remove elements to the venue painting.
WHAT TYPES OF WEDDING VENUES DO I PAINT?
In all honestly, almost any! I have clients across a diverse
range of venue types – that’s actually what I love about my job most, it keeps
it interesting! For English weddings, I have painted many stately homes,
castles and barns; and for destination weddings I have painted more villas, coastlines
and tropical shores than I can count. With bespoke venue illustrations, (almost)
anything is possible, so don’t be afraid to get in touch if you have something specific
in mind.
-
Castle Venue Illustrations
For castle themed venue illustration wedding invitations, it is all about capturing the textured stonework and architecture, plus little details such as ornate castle gates, fountains and landscaped gardens.
-
Barn Venue Illustrations
For barn weddings, embrace the unconventional! Barn venues are often weird and wonderful shapes and sizes, which can add character and charm to your venue painting. I like to capture detail in the brickwork and stone panelling and often paint countryside and farm animals in the background where relevant.
-
Stately Homes and Manor Houses
When painting stately homes or manor houses, I love to pick out details that make that venue unique. It could be grand façades, architectural details around the doors and windows, ornamental fountains or elegant topiary. You can let me know if certain details are special to you and you’d like them featured in your venue painting.
FAQ: WEDDING VENUE ILLUSTRATIONS
Q: When should I order venue illustration wedding invitations?
A: Unpopular opinion… In contrary to wedding blogs that will says 6 months before your wedding, I recommend ordering bespoke invitations as soon as you have your venue book. This allows plenty of time for the hand painted work and proofing process.
Q: What photos are needed to paint a venue illustration?
A: I will need a clear photo of your venue from the angle that you’d like painting, along with any close ups of details on the building that you’d like me to include. If you have upgrading to include extra illustrations such as gardens or surrounding landscapes, I will need photos of those areas too. You can supply photos you have taken yourself, or you may be able to find reference photos for your venue illustration on the internet, or ask your venue.
-
Coastal Venue Illustrations
For coastal venues, I can paint the venue itself, and also the surrounding scenery if you wish – this could be a soft wash to show the sea cascading onto the beach, rugged clifftops or a picturesque harbour. I can also include coastal imagery such as sailboats, lighthouses, shells and marine animals, either in the venue illustration or as a decorative border to frame your invitations.
-
Villa Venue Illustrations
I have painted many European villas, which tend to be lined with cypress trees and set against rolling hills and beautiful countryside. Some sit aside olive groves, lemon trees, or bougainvillea, which I can incorporate into your venue illustration wedding invitations too. Combined with vibrant flowers and perhaps some citrus fruits, these details evoke an ambience of a destination wedding, before your guests have even packed their suitcases.
-
French Chateau Illustrations
Charming French Chateaus tend to be painted in soft pastel colours, and I love to pick out beautiful details such as climbing roses, wrought iron gates, grand turrets or vineyards in the distance. My chateau invitations are romantic, timeless and elegant with luxurious details such as faux silk ribbons and hand poured wax seals.
