Seashells and Sunsets…

When Lauren and Laurie approached me to create wedding stationery with hand painted illustrations for their Lake Como wedding, I knew this was going to be something truly special. From the very beginning, it was clear that their stationery needed to be as vibrant and personal as their love story. With every piece of the suite infused with hand painted watercolour illustrations, bold florals, and heartfelt details, this project became a celebration of their passion for travel and the cherished memories they’ve made together. The end result? Wedding stationery with hand painted illustrations, inspired by their love of travel and favourite destinations that complemented their venue in Lake Como just perfectly.

The Brief - Wedding Stationery with Hand Painted Illustrations

Lauren came to me armed with a clear vision and an impeccable eye for detail. She had curated mini mood boards for each piece of stationery—everything from illustrated menus and confetti cones to signs for their audio guest book and gelato cart. Her goal was to bring their love story to life in the most creative and personal way possible.
The chosen colour palette—a vibrant mix of pinks, reds, and blues—was nothing short of stunning and perfectly complemented the romantic setting of Lake Como. I couldn’t wait to dive in and start painting!

The Couple - Wedding Stationery with Hand Painted Illustrations

It was immediately clear that Lauren and Laurie shared a love of exploring the world together. From the beaches of Australia to their local seaside adventures in the UK, their passion for travel and experiencing new cultures was something I wanted to shine through in their wedding stationery.
For me, this project was all about capturing the essence of their adventures and weaving those memories into every element of their wedding stationery. It was a storyteller’s dream!

Illustrated Table Names

The table names were the perfect opportunity to showcase the couple’s love of travel. From all the wonderful places they visited together, L&L managed to choose 6 favourites - the names of the beaches would become the table names. I painted the seashores and surrounded them with a colourful border filled with hand painted illustrations. Each table name featured a vibrant border of hand-painted details: koalas and kangaroos for Mission Beach in Australia, beach huts and deck chairs for Sheringham Beach in Norfolk, and a mix of shells and florals to tie everything together. I also included nods to special activities and local delicacies the couple had enjoyed in these locations. The result was both personal and playful, making each table a unique part of their love story.

Custom Escort Card Display

The escort card display was another standout piece and I carried the same illustrated motifs from the table names into the design, creating a cohesive and eye-catching display.

The shell-shaped escort cards were a bespoke design printed on pearlescent cardstock, with pink tassels for a chic (and practical!) touch—perfect for the breezy Lake Como setting. Each card featured the guest's name on the front and their table number on the back, carefully pinned in alphabetical order.

For the display itself, I designed an illustrated panel with the title "Seashells & Sunsets – Our Kind of Paradise," brought to life with gold acrylic letters. As Lauren and Laurie were travelling from the UK, I provided digital artwork for the large back board, to their wedding planner, Arianna, who arranged printing locally.

Illustrated Wedding Signage

In keeping with the other wedding stationery with hand painted illustrations, I designed a set of custom signs for the audio guest book, memorial table, gelato cart and a bar menu with cute illustrations of Lauren and Laurie’s 3 dogs. I had these printed, Lauren ordered gorgeous velvet frames with tassels and they were transported in the couple’s suitcase. There was also some larger signage including an order of the day, which featured a venue illustration of Villa Regina Teodolinda at the bottom - I had actually painted this venue before, which is how Lauren discovered me on Instagram, so the couple was able to use my existing illustration which helped their stationery budget go a little further.

Illustrated Wedding Menus with a Twist

If I had to pick a favourite piece from this project (though it’s a tough call!), the illustrated menus would be the winner.

The circular menus featured a die-cut shell design for the guest names and a border of hand-painted ingredients inspired by their wedding menu. From juicy ravioli and Italian lemons to seabass and the iconic Millefoglie dessert, the menu design celebrated the culinary delights of their Lake Como wedding while doubling as a keepsake for guests.

Illustrated Confetti Cones

No detail was overlooked in the planning and styling of Lauren and Laurie’s wedding, and I loved this. Each bespoke confetti cone featured hot pink florals, blue ribbons, and a custom oval monogram with the couple’s initials. A subtle illustration of the venue tied the design together beautifully.

Welcome Dinner Invitation

For their welcome dinner at a casual lakeside Cernobbio restaurant, Lauren envisioned something relaxed yet striking. I painted the view from the restaurant and framed it with the same hot pink flowers used throughout the suite. It was the perfect balance of elegance and fun to kick off the couple’s destination wedding celebrations.
