Wildflower Wedding Invitations: Why Couples Are Falling in Love with This Wonderfully Whimsical Trend

Looking for wildflower wedding invitations? You’re in luck – I am a wedding stationery designer with over 18 years’ experience in the creative industries that has just launched a fabulous new collection of wildflower wedding invitations. Think tall, striking delphiniums and snapdragons, flowing wisteria, coneflowers, daisies and other beautiful blooms inspired by the English country garden.

Wildflowers are a rising wedding trend and represent a huge shift in how couples want their wedding day to look and feel. Gone is the era of stiff, ultra polished, perfectly symmetrical flower arrangements. Couples are embracing relaxed, natural and ‘effortlessly styled’ aesthetics. Wildflowers allow you to play with height, scale, texture and layers, and are being used in all kinds of ways – meadow aisles are replacing the traditional floral arch. Wildflowers in mismatched containers or milk churns are popular, as they can easily be moved from ceremony to reception to evening do, allowing couples to maximise their floral budget and repurpose the flowers.

Of course, floral trends make their way over to wedding stationery, and more and more couples are searching for wildflower wedding invitations to complement their styling.

Delphinium Wedding Invitations

As a professional wedding illustrator, watercolour is my medium of choice. I love the variety of colour intensity you can create, from soft pastel tones to intense pops of colour, the way it blends and the ability to create depth with layers too. Of course, I love painting flowers and delphiniums are one of my favourite species – I love their tall, dramatic formations and the clusters of delicate petals.

My Delphinium Wedding Invitations feature a sweet bed of roses set against grand delphiniums in pretty pastel shades of blue and lilac with plenty of luscious greenery. The suite includes a flat invitation and coordinating details card which can include a link to your wedding website / QR code and information on travel, accommodation, dress codes and gifts.

You can also upgrade and add decorative ribbons and envelope liners, which gives the wildflower wedding invitations a luxury finish, and I offer and envelope printing service which can save hours of time compared to handwriting envelopes.

Wisteria Wedding Invitations

In true Bridgerton style, Wisteria wedding flowers are trending. Rather than packing tables with bulky centrepieces that obscure your guests' view, the focus can be shifted upward, with wisteria dropping gracefully from rafters or used as a backdrop for the alter or top table, creating a romantic, dreamy aesthetic.

The Wisteria wedding trend is born from an obsession with old-world romance, English country homes and secret gardens and is the perfect blend of vintage style and modern whimsy. Hanging Wisteria from above clears the sightlines at eye level while still filling massive amounts of negative space overhead – this is great for large, high-ceilinged spaces such as barns, tipis and marquees. Layering varying shades of the same colour is on trend and Wisteria naturally lends itself to the "Lavender Haze" aesthetic - blending soft lilacs, deep purples, and periwinkles with complimentary shades of sage green, ivory or dusty blue.

Part of my wildflower wedding invitations, these Wisteria Wedding Invitations are inspired by grandmother’s country cottage, which has beautiful lilac Wisteria trailing along the fence on the front driveway. She also had a ‘secret garden’ which I loved exploring when I was a child, so it felt perfect to incorporate some of these memories into my wildflower collection.

The main invitation is decorated with a trail of Wisteria, and there are several pastel-coloured envelopes to choose from including blush pink, lilac and powder blue.

Bright Wildflower Wedding Invitations

For some couples, soft and subtle just isn’t their bag. The shift toward colourful wildflowers is a direct response to decades of ‘pretty pink’, muted wedding aesthetics. For a long time, colour palettes were dominated by neutral tones, blush pink and desaturated boho neutrals. I enjoy working with soft tones, but it’s also lovely to see couples embracing an injection of colour. Using bright wildflowers in your wedding styling, can create high impact, naturally draw the eye across a room. A few well-placed, vibrant wildflowers can create the same visual impact as a dense arrangement of roses or peonies – maximising your wedding flower budget.

Bright wildflowers also lean into the trend towards modern maximalism, colour blocking and pairing unexpected textures and colours together. Wildflowers naturally grow in highly saturated, varied hues. When mixed in an arrangement, they create a layered, multi-dimensional explosion of colour that makes the overall florals more interesting and less predictable.

Violet, my latest Bright Wildflower Wedding Invitation, features a vibrant border of watercolour flowers in shades of hot pink, royal blue, yellow and lilac. The design feels playful and energetic and I had outdoor and barn weddings in mind when I created it. I had fun wit the inside, with an illustrated order of events meandering across the page. The watercolour illustrations are more free flowing and less rigid than my usual linear wedding timelines.

Below is the first Wildflower Wedding Invitation I ever created, which quickly became one of my best-selling designs. It features wild meadow flowers flowing down each side of the cover and inside there is plenty of space for your ceremony details, order of events and guest information.

Garden Flower Wedding Invitations

While wildflowers often bring to mind unkempt British hedgerows, I also love creating designs inspired by larger, more dramatic garden flowers.

My Garden Flower Folded Wedding Invitation features bolder blooms including large roses and peonies alongside pink snapdragons. The large florals are paired with green stripes and a decorative oval with the couple’s initials on the cover. The stripes are continued inside, throughout a fun, playful border.

The folded invitation is held closed with a narrow ribbon, tied in a bow and you can upgrade to add envelope liners and envelope address printing to complete the look.
